Yehudi Menuhin

Mr.Menuhin's death is, of course, a great tragedy. He was a great and gifted musician. One thing though: his recordings on the Bach sonatas and partitas ranked lowest in the worst performances i have ever heard. He makes so many mistakes in these recordings, varies so much from a "standard" performance, and generally struggles over the double-stops, that it makes you wonder how, in the face of such incompetence, any critic could regard these as "good" renditions and chastise someone such as GG for his interpretations. No doubt Menuhin performed other composers with verve and style; but hey, his Bach was rubbish.
