As a matter of fact, I am counting the days till Nov 27th, which is when
the Bazzana book is shipping here in Canada. I used one of those
gosh-we're-sorry-the-books-aren't-here-please-accept-our-apologies-and-
order-one-from-Oxford-Press-with-this-15%-off-order-form that K. Berry
spoke of and got an invoice marked `paid' in the mail with the expected
shipping date printed on it. So, there we have it, and even despite the
Canadian postal strike my beloved Bazzana book will still be shipped
directly to my door because Oxford is couriering it. That's the state of
things up here; goodness only knows what the U.S. is doing with it,
though. Canada has a pretty decent relationship with the U.K. regarding
publishing rights - we get British books, but the States usually puts out
their own edition later (sometimes much later). Maybe that little
revolution wasn't such a good idea? (Okay, okay! Sorry! :) Mind you,
sometimes Canada gets stuck right in the middle, when we don't have the
U.K. rights or the American rights and we have to import. Oh well. That's
what we get for being quiet and unassuming.

I found a copy of Two Portraits (On and Off the Record) and loved every
moment of it. What a terrific voice Gould has. I think I might order a
copy of GG AT Home from the Friends, now that I've joined. By the way,
what a thrill when I opened my journal and found not only an article by
Jorgen, but one from Junichi too - and one by one of the professors in my
department at my university, Howard Fink. I think I just might have found
another reader for my thesis! (No, don't ask; it's a long, painful story
which you probably already know if you've ever written a thesis or know
someone who did.) And I just loved the article on the Russian tour.

It just occured to me that I haven't bought a GG CD in ages. (I did,
however, buy the new Yo Yo Ma recording of th Back solo cello suites and
found them quite Gouldian in interpretation at times - places where the
the rests (anti-sound?) are almost more important than the notes played.
Overall effect quite good.) Any suggestions? I could, of course, pick up
the Italian CD, or be reckless and get that Plays Bach/Not Bach set
(called Images here in Quebec, but I know there's an English title that's
just not coming to me right now) even though I've got lots of the stuff
already. It's always nice to have a sampler-like album. Okay, so I have
the 32SFAGG soundtrack already; how bad is the doubling?
