Grigory Sokolov - great Bach pianist

Hi everyone

Not sure if you know about Grigory Soklov - the Russian pianist.

I heard him play at the GG Festival In Holland, 1992. Since then he's become one
of my very favourite pianists of all time.

He's recorded quite a bit of Bach and plays the WTC in recitals. Anyone heard
him recently ??

Besides Bach, his Brahms is stupendously good, Chopin is sublime and he plays
the best Rachmaninov this side of Van Cliburn and Byron Janis. Honest !!

Since I am the founder of his unofficial fan club, I've got some web pages on
his at www.thump.org/sokolov/ (inc. reviews of Sokolov in Toronto playing Bach)
- plus there's an old essay about GG there and some furtwangler info too.

His record label op 111 are releasing a new disc early next year of Brahms,
Beethoven and Rameau.

Enjoy

Neil
