Re: Goldberg Variations

I saw the review in Gramaphone of the new Goldberg Variations CD. It got a
good, but not spectacular, review. She is the most leisurely of pianists
in this work, at no less than ninety minutes. The author praised her for
her ability to bring out voices and textures. He also said, however, that
the playing plodded about in some places, and that there were places where
Tureck chose to broadly bring the lyrical side of the variations out, and
he felt that the music was robbed of some of its wit and verve.
